Get Sun Smart - It's not Just a "Beach Thing"

Maybe it’s our chilly winter, or the lure of our beautiful lakefront, but Chicagoans love to soak up the sun.

Sadly, though, Chicagoans ranked DEAD LAST in a recent poll by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) that gauges how “sun smart” people are in major cities across America.

Participants were asked questions like: "Is it good to get a base tan?" and "Is tanning indoors better because UV rays are controlled?" The answer to both is "No."

The potential for melanomas and other damage to skin is real, and very simple to prevent with appropriate clothing and effective sunscreens.

However, 41% of Chicagoans agreed with the statement, “I prefer to enjoy sunshine and not worry about what I should do to protect myself from it.”

Continuum Studio is joining the AAD, the Skin Cancer Foundation, Dermalogica, SkinCeuticals and Spa Finder to raise awareness of UV protection among our clients and neighbors.

The Team at Continuum Studio and staff from Dermalogica will be raising awareness of UV and sun protection at the Midsommarfest in Andersonville on June 9 and 10.

We will also donate a portion of selected UV product sales during June to the Skin Cancer Foundation.
